Upgrading to Version 2.00.0000

Before starting the Upgrade process, I  HIGHLY  suggest that the user make a complete backup of all files and folders of the TrainCat install directory. Make this backup by copying the files & folders to another location on your hard drive or to a CD. By default, the install directory is located at:  C:\Program Files\KIT Products\TrainCat

Version 2.00.0000 has made installing program upgrades an easy process. Download the Auto-Upgrade program (TC2Upgrade.exe) saving it in to the TrainCat folder of your hard drive. This is only done once since all other upgrades will be automatic. Next, the user must run the Upgrade program that was just downloaded to install version 2.00.0000. YOU MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET TO GET ANY/ALL UPGRADES.

After downloading the TC2Upgrade program, use your computers Start button, click on Run...

Windows opens the Run window. Click on the Browse button

Windows will want to know where the file to open is located and can be found using the Browse window

Select the folder TRAINCAT in the folder KIT PRODUCTS in the folder PROGRAM FILES on your hard drive.

Windows will then want to know the exact name of the file to you want it to run.

Select the file TC2Upgrade.exe. Once selected, click on the Open button

Windows returns to the Run window with the TC2Upgrade program selected.

Click on the Ok button to begin the program.

This new addition to the TrainCat suite will perform all upgrade functions for the user. Click on the Go button

YOU MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET TO GET ANY/ALL UPGRADES.

The Upgrade program will begin by connecting to the TrainCat server through an Internet connection and download any new upgrades. If the user is several versions behind, the Upgrade program will download all upgrades required.

As part of the upgrade process, The TrainCat splash screen will be visible with a progress bar. It is normal for the upgrade process to pause at points while critical files are being upgraded.

Behind the scenes, TrainCat is comparing your system to a known reference and making adjustments to bring your install to the current level and to also perform routine database maintenance. This process will always keep your system in peak operating performance.

If the user is several versions behind, the Upgrade program will restart the process until all upgrades are installed.
