TrainCat - Tutorial Lesson 8
Maintaining TrainCat

     

Do the nature of SQL databases and tables, they will need maintaining to make them run at optimal performance. The Maintenance procedure also permanently removes deleted items, like the ones deleted in the previous tutorial. The maintenance is performed in another program provided with TrainCat, the TrainCat Database Utility.

Before going any further, exit TrainCat completely. A shortcut for the TrainCat Database Utility was installed in your program shortcuts. Find this shortcut and start the utility. Once started, the following screen will be displayed.

The entire scope of this utility will not be covered in this tutorial, but can found here. Click on the button for "Reindex Databases". The Database Utility will perform all operations required. Once complete, the user can exit the Database Utility and re-enter TrainCat.
