TrainCat - Tutorial Lesson 6
Adding A New Inventory Item With Partially Known Information

In a previous lesson, we added an Inventory item using information that was known. There are many times that the user may not have the stock number or other pieces of information. TrainCat allows the user to search the MasterList to identify the item to be added.

Let's Add a second new Item

Don't worry, what we enter in this Tutorial Step will be deleted in a later lesson within Tutorial. From the Inventory screen, click once on the Add Button. Notice the changes to the button group. Once you begin Adding a new item or Editing an existing item, the user can only Save or Revert (Cancel) the process.

When in the Add Mode, the Search MasterList button will become active. This button is locate in the lower right corner of the Inventory screen. Click the Search button.

For this tutorial, you have a GP-35 in your hand from Atlas that has a road # of "3305" and you want to add it to your inventory. First, set the Manf: Filter, to select "Atlas Manufacturing". Next click the Find button at the bottom of the screen.

The Search Window will be shown. So for the top Field, select "Description". In the top Value, enter "GP-35". Make sure that the And is checked. In the bottom Field, select "Road Number". In the bottom Value, enter "3305". Click on the Search button. Notice how only MasterList items that matched your criteria entered into the Search Window are displayed.

Highlight the item that matches your item and click on the Exit button. Doing so will instruct TrainCat to import that item into the Inventory for you.

For this tutorial, click on the Revert button since we will not actually enter the item in to the Inventory. Once you have done this, please continue with the Tutorial Step #7, Deleting Inventory Items.
