TrainCat - Tutorial Lesson 4

To begin, click on the Reports menu and then on the Inventory Reports option of the drop-down menu bar. New to version 2.00.0000, the Print Manager became the user interface to the reporting modules within TrainCat. Using the Print Manager, the user can select the type of report that is wanted, the print format for that type using a report preview and description and user selectable sorting.

First, the user must select the Report Type from the drop-down list provided. For this tutorial, please select ASSET. There are several Asset report formats that can be printed depending on the way the user wants data outputted. The formats are selected using the Navigation Buttons in the button group at the screen bottom. For this tutorial, please select Standard Asset Report. Click the Print button.

TrainCat will then calculate your assets within the Inventory and display them on your monitor for your review.

Take special notice of the Print Preview commands.

TrainCat will always preview a report to the monitor instead of going directly to the printer. This allows the user to verify that everything is to their satisfaction before committing to paper. Saving trees is good, wasting the users time is bad. The buttons in the Preview commands, from left to right, are: First Page, Previous Page, Go to Page, Next Page, Last Page, Magnification, Exit Print Preview and Print Report. Click on the Last Page button. The last page of the report is always the summary page totaling the quantity of Inventory items, the total cost the user paid for the Inventory items, the total value for the Inventory items and the total profit for all items in the Inventory.

Click on Exit Print Preview to return back to TrainCat's Print Manager. Once you have done this. Also try the Insurance Report. Notice the information of where and when you bought the item along with where the item is stored is included. Please continue with the Tutorial Step #5, Locating Inventory Items.
