TrainCat - Tutorial Lesson 2A
Configuring the System Defaults

To begin, click on the Config menu and then on the System Defaults option of the drop-down menu bar.

For starters, the user should ask themselves "What do I buy most of the time", "Where do I buy it most of the time" and "How much do I normally pay for it". If the user were able to definitively answer any of the questions, a lot of time and data entry work can be reduced by entering the answers into this screen. The screen image, as shown, shows that the user usually buys N-Scale Micro-Trains in Mint condition from TexNrails at a 25% discount of the List Price and stores them in their office.

Don't worry if you have an item that is different for any or all of the defaults as they can easily be overwritten while entering a new item. There is no minimum of fields that can be setup for a default, nor is it required to enter something in all of the fields. The user should set the defaults to what will make their life a little easier while using TrainCat. The potential however, is there for not having to enter data in seven fields with each new item.

The middle tab is where the user must enter their personal information that will only be used for the report headers and summary page. One of the main benefits of TrainCat is the Insurance Report and the personal information must be entered in this defaults screen to have any relevance.

Take a moment now to enter your defaults. When done, click on the Save Button. Please continue the Tutorial Step #2B, Configuring the Seller's List
