Let's take a moment to talk about the Command Button Group since they are used
on most of TrainCat screens. The Command button group actually contains two
functional groups; Navigation Buttons and Command Buttons.
 |
| Text Buttons |
 |
| Picture Buttons |
Most screens show data that is held within TrainCat's table structure as a
record. That is, one record for each item. Navigation buttons allow the user to
navigate through the records to be viewed or edited. The screen will
automatically enable/disable the navigation buttons depending on where the user
is in the file. Navigation Buttons from Left to Right are:
- First Item
- Previous Item
- Next Item
- Last Item
The Command Buttons inform TrainCat on what to do with the record that is
being displayed. From Left to Right, these buttons are:
- Locate an Item(s) by Search Criteria
- Print a Report for Displayed Items
- Add New Item / Save Edits
- Edit Selected Item / Cancel Edits
- Delete Selected Item
- Exit Screen
The user should notice that when Adding or Editing a record, the Add
and Edit buttons change functions and become Save Changes and Abandon
Changes respectfully.

the Active Collection
