System Defaults

The System Defaults are provided to the user to help eliminate the tedium of  entering their collection into TrainCat by setting up defaults that will be entered into specific fields when a new record is added. New to version 1.01.0020 are the user defined fields or UDF's. These additions allow the screen to be segregated into tabs that grouped like fields together.

From the System Defaults Tab, the following fields can be setup for defaults when adding new Inventory or Master List Items:

Included in the system defaults, is the locations that TrainCat can find the item thumbnails and optional digital images. The user may browse the computer for the locations by clicking on the drive icon to the right of the path field. Provisions for Photo reference CD's has been installed within the program once the system is aware that a KIT Manufacturers Photo Reference CD is installed into the computer, the system will automatically reset the paths to the correct settings.

TIP: If you have purchased the Manufacturers Photo Reference CD, copy the entire thumbnail directory to the TrainCat directory which you specified during installation. Then using the drive button, browse to and select the copied Thumbnail folder. This will make browsing the Inventory and the Master List much faster. Digital images should stay on the CD.

This screen is also the location for your name and mailing address. This information will be printed on each report. More information on the available reports can be found here.

New to Version 2.00.0000

Text 1-4:    A general text field that can be customizable where the use creates the text label for the field and therefore the meaning of the field. The field can be shown or hidden should the user not want to use the field.

Date 1-2:    A general date field that can be customizable where the use creates the text label for the field and therefore the meaning of the field. The field can be shown or hidden should the user not want to use the field.
