What Are Series
and How They Work

Most all manufacturers create like items that have similar stock numbers. These numbers usually run in a series of numbers that can, and do, identify the type of item the manufacturer has released. Series Numbers in the MasterList are those numbers where given a Manufacturer Code and a Series Number, common traits of the item are stored for easier entry by the user.  The following are some examples:

Manufacturer Stock # Series # Description Features

The Series Number also allows standardization of customized and special run items. If Bev-Bel uses an Atlas 40000 series car, the user can enter Series and the Description and Features fields will be auto-populated. This feature can be seen in the above examples. The special Run car Stock # 9215A is a 24000 Series car by Ak-Sar-Ben.
