Searching For Items

    


The user views items within the Inventory and Master List one at a time using the Respective Screen. Please notice the main button set at the screen bottom. For this help page, we will be concerned with the Find button.



Clicking on the Find button will open a search dialog window as shown below.

New to Version 2.00.0000, there are now four search criteria and grouped And/Or combinations. Below are the definitions of the field values:

  * User Defined Fields will only show if configured to do so in the System Defaults Setup. Also, User Defined Fields will display the label text that has been assigned in the System Defaults Setup.

These fields are compared to the entered value by the selected operator. Two fields can be compared where both (AND) fields are true or either (OR) field is true. New to Version 2.00.0000, are grouped And/Or combinations. These operators work like:
   A And B And( C Or D)
   A Or B Or( C And D)

The user must select the desired field, choose the appropriate operator and the value that is to be compared. If any items are found, the user is returned to the Inventory Form where Inventory Items matching the search criteria are displayed. The user will be informed if no matches apply.

Example #1: User wants to view all Baltimore and Ohio Boxcars
Solution: Search Road Name Equals "baltimore" AND Model Description Contains "boxcar"

Example #2: User wants to view all items released in 1980, 81 and 82
Solution: Search Release Date Between "01/01/1980, 12/31/1982"    *** Notice four digit year ***

To restore all records for viewing, simply click on the Find button on the Inventory Form and then click on the All button in the Search Form or clicking on the to the right of Sort By clears ALL filters.
