Series Configuration

The Series database associates a three letter manufacturer code and a series number to different common parameters (Detailed Description and Features) with other models within that series. Most manufacturers will group models of a type into a common stock number group. This is the series that will be entered into the database. The information within the Series definitions are auto-populated into the Inventory for a item being added. This feature eliminates the repetitive task of data entry for each model.

These codes are used extensively throughout TrainCat.

The manufacturers stock number Series used by TrainCat are maintained in the Database Configuration screen accessed from the Main Menu and Selecting Config then Databases. Select Item Series Definitions from the Database selection tool at the top of the screen. It is NOT advised to change the existing series to stay compatible with the TrainCat Community, feel free to add your own.

The Command Buttons work in the same fashion as described in the Inventory and Master List screens. New to version 1.01.0000, a filter has been added to allow the user to view only the Manufacturer of their choice. Also included is an Undo button that will remove the filter and allow all Manufacturers to be shown.

The database consists of four fields, the manufacturers code, the stock number series, the detailed common description and the common features. Both the Manufacturers Code and the stock number Series MUST be unique for proper operation.
