Once editing or adding begins, TrainCat will allow either saving or abandoning the changes by clicking on the Save or the Revert button respectively.
After entering the Manufacturer and Stock Number, TrainCat will begin a search of the Master List of items in the included Market Price Guide. If only one entry is found, the remaining inventory fields are auto populated from the Master List. If multiple entries are found, TrainCat displays the Multiple Item Choices for the user to select the correct entry.

Using the Up and Down arrows on the keyboard, move the highlight to the row that correct identifies the desired Inventory item. Clicking on the Accept will inform TrainCat to auto populate the remaining fields with the selected information. Clicking on Cancel will do nothing to the remaining fields.
When ready to save the item in to the inventory, click on Save. TrainCat will check to see if the item is in the Master List. If not, the user will be prompted to determine if the item is to be included into the Master list. A similar check is made for the series number. If not found, the user is also prompted for inclusion in to the Master Car Styles. Saving the information into the Master Files will make entering like items easier in the future and allow exporting to the TrainCat Community.
Q: I do not know the stock
number of the item that I want to add to the Inventory, but I know other
criteria. How do I enter the item ?
A: Only when adding a new Inventory item does a
special button become active. You can find it to the right of the command
buttons at the screen bottom. This Search button will take you to the
master list where you can search it for the information that you do have (Road
Name, Road Number, etc.). Once found, highlight the entry you want and click on
the Exit button. The new Inventory item will be auto populated.
Q: How do I keep from
entering duplicate Inventory items ?
A: TrainCat will search the Inventory for a duplicate
item as the user enters a new item. If found, TrainCat will issue a warning and
suggest that the program edits the existing Inventory item instead of creating a
duplicate. As of version 1.01.0020, duplicate items are treated as a new
inventory item allowing the user add the same items that may have been purchased
from different Seller or having different Conditions.
Q: I have a Custom Painted or
Custom Numbered Item. How do I enter it into TrainCat ?
A: As of version 1.01.0020, Customized Items are better
organized. Click here for more info.
